replacement domes

We like getting the retaining rail measurement

When measuring--take pictures with your tape measurement on the retaining rail and send it to us so we can see how the rails and domes look as they sit. The picture to the right shows some other useful information that we will ask about at times.

Gradual or Quick Rise Options

If taking pictures with your rail and tape measure--take pictures from a side angle, too so we can see if they're quick rise.

Changing both domes still need to know if they are gradual rise or quick rise

We are often told "it don't matter--I'm buying both domes," but it does matter. The frame is what dictates what needs to be quick rise because of the condensation "dam" that is under the domes.

quick rise

Please excuse the grainy picture

Quick rise domes are "inside" the flange and come up about 1" at almost 90 degrees before it domes.

pyramid quick rise

Sometimes pyramid domes are also quick rise

gradual rise

Gradual rise domes just slope up to a dome

The gradual rise and quick rise are easier to see in the corners of the dome.

MOP ON SKYLIGHT

Mop on domes can be changed to either curb mount or self-flashing. Depends on the roof type.

We can make domes to be mopped on, but there is no warranty if domes are installed without a frame. Seems like they do good when they are installed when the house or building is manufactured, but once they're broken--it is hard to get them sealed in good without premature breaking or leaking.

notched / beveled rail

May want to take retaining rail off and measure the dome from outside flange to outside flange

If you send a picture to where we can see both ends of the tape measure--we should be able to tell you how we need to make the domes to fit inside this type of retaining rail. The larger part of the retaining rail is not a good measurement. Measuring from the notch to notch where it is a little narrower is the better measurement option.

rounded retaining rail

May want to take retaining rail off and measure the dome from outside flange to outside flange

We are pretty familiar with the rail configuration and usually the domes are 1" smaller than the rail, but some of the rounded rails are not AS rounded as shown in the picture above.

cluster domes

Measure each one to make sure they fit inside the mullion and rail

With any cluster--it might be a good idea to measure each one because sometimes they are different measurements.
